About SPS-NIP
SPS-NIP: one step ahead!
Together with thousands of students you have chosen to study psychology. It’s a very interesting course that offers you numerous possibilities in the work field. For example, you could work as a clinical psychologist, media psychologist or in a company’s HR department. The research world also likes to open its doors to ambitious psychology students, as do forensic psychiatry and educational institutions. But, how do you develop yourself into a professional? How do you make sure you get to a workplace that does justice to your interests, ideas, talents and ambitions? Where can you gain the necessary information and experience, already during your studies?
Mission & vision
Our Vision
We, SPS-NIP, Section Psychology Students of the Dutch Association of Psychologists, are here for you! With a clear vision in mind, we work daily to pursue and implement our mission and vision. As one of the sections of NIP, the largest professional association for psychologists in the Netherlands, we share the NIP-wide vision. This reads:
“In a continuously changing world, people and organizations are constantly faced with new challenges. Psychologists who know what they are doing make it possible for everyone to get the best out of themselves.”
Our Mission
The vision is clear. The mission of SPS-NIP represents the role we take on within the vision of the NIP. In particular, we zoom in on the last sentence of our vision. For, the psychologist who knows what he is doing, starts with the student. The student who is given all the necessary tools, information and services during their study period. The student who can develop and emerge as a starting professional. That is where SPS-NIP wants to make its contribution: SPS-NIP wants to support and facilitate the psychology student in their step towards the professional field. The step towards becoming the psychologist who knows what he is doing. Our mission statement reads:
“We are committed to the professional and personal development of psychology students and build the bridge between the academic field and the work field. In this way, everyone who seeks the services of a psychologist knows they are receiving the best quality and we are contributing to a resilient society.”
Our ideals & cornerstones
Our ideals
Now that the vision and mission are sharp, it is important to also focus on our ideals. What would our ideal world look like?
We stand for getting the most out of the study period, so that students are optimally prepared for the work field. We open doors, build bridges to the field and help students make the transition. In an ideal world, we would like to see:
- That all psychology students in the Netherlands are optimally prepared for the professional field
&
- That the academic and social interests of all psychology students in the Netherlands are optimally represented
Our cornerstones
In everything we do, the following cornerstones are a starting point for our actions. Our four cornerstones – Connection, Development, Representation and Inclusiveness – make visible what we are focused on. They make visible which values we consider important within SPS-NIP and why. Thus, these cornerstones play an important role within the Section.
SPS-NIP has a number of cornerstones that show where our focus points lie. Our cornerstones tell what you focus on and what we think is important within SPS-NIP.
At SPS-NIP, every psychology student takes a step forward, matching their interests, ideas and talents.
